Foundation Proposal Writer (Full Time, Hybrid)

Job Summary

The Foundation Proposal Writer primarily focuses on creating detailed and persuasive proposals tailored to individual or corporate donors, highlighting specific funding opportunities and the hospital's key initiatives. Works closely with the development team to understand donor interests and align them with the organization's goals, ensuring each proposal is personalized and effectively communicates the impact of potential contributions. The role involves both creative and strategic elements, presenting compelling narratives that engage and motivate donors to support the hospital's mission and programs.

Job Specific Duties

  • Writes compelling and personalized proposals that align with both the hospital's needs and the donor's interests. 
  • Collaborates with development, prospect research, and clinical teams to gather accurate and relevant information for proposals. 
  • Tailors narratives to showcase the hospital’s mission, impact, and specific funding needs. 
  • Ensures adherence to donor guidelines and requirements in all proposal submissions. 
  • Monitors and tracks proposal deadlines to ensure timely submissions. 
  • Revises and refines proposal content based on feedback. 
  • Maintains and updates a database of donor information and proposal outcomes. 
  • Participates in strategy sessions to identify new funding opportunities and approaches.
  • Assists in the preparation of presentations and supporting materials for donor meetings. 
  • Evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of proposals in securing funding.
  • Collaborates with the graphic design team to create compelling graphics and visuals that enhance the impact of proposals. 
  • Responsible for cross-training counterparts.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related field.
  • 4-7 years of Marketing/Public Relations experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior experience with Raiser's Edge preferred.
  • Prior experience designing graphics in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
  • Prior experience analyzing data to discern trends and patterns.
  • Basic understanding of database management, with the ability to accurately input and maintain data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting and collaborating.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring timely completion of assignments.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new research methods and trends in the field of prospect research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Possesses initiative, tact, diplomacy, and creativity.
  • Well-developed sense of curiosity, ingenuity, and perseverance.
